Man Shoots At St. Louis Police After Faking Surrender

A close call for police in St. Louis, MO as a man pretends to surrender and then whips out a gun a fires.Police say that two police officers had cornered an armed robbery suspect, who appeared to be surrendering, when he pulled a handgun concealed in his clothing.

Police say the the victim, an ice cream store owner, flagged down a passing police car to report a robbery just occurrred and a black car had sped off.

The officer immediately started pursuing the black car, but at the corner of Lee and Taylor, a passenger jumped out of the car and the officer started pursuing that suspect on foot.

According to police, the officer had chased the suspect through several backyards and gangways before two other officers cornered the suspect in the street.

Police say the suspect fired one shot and missed.

The two officers fired a total of seven shots, hitting the suspect several times.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police say the shop owner identified the suspect at the scene, but they are still searching for the man who drove off in that black getaway car.
