Question; Does the Registry of Motor Vehicles give certain people who report their red front plate missing or stolen permission to drive with one red plate on the back of their MV. Rumor has it that the RMV gives these owner/operators a revised registration stating it is ok for them to have one plate on their MV???

They order a new plate, same number and get it around 4-6 weeks. Have them present the receipt/order from the RMV. If the plate was stolen, it should have been reported to the PD and a ACTV/STPL would come up. I woudl encourage anyone with that status to go to the RMV and just get a new set of plates. This way when you run the plate it doesn't hit all the bells and whistles for a stolen plate.

Not just certain people, everybody. If you request new plate or plates due to stolen/lost/damaged, you will get a new registration printed out with.....crap.....SOMETHING written in the upper right hand box indicating you've orderd replacement plates. You need to keep the receipt with the registration to show if you get pulled over. I ordered a new set of plates for the company vehicle because the old ones were almost illegible. The clerk informed me that as long as I have the new registration and reciept for payment for new plates, I could not be cited.

As far as how it's coded in the computer when it's run, no clue.

Thats the correct Answer.

The registry will give the person a document which looks something like a duplicate registration. It will indciate that it is a permit to display one plate while the person is waiting for a replacement. I've only seen a couple, but they exist. I stopped a guy once for one plate and he smiled and said "I have a permit to do that", and whipped one out.

Ok Thanks folks for the information

This b&*$TCH I stopped gave me this registration which like what 617 said had a written statement on the right corner saying that this MV was allowed to operate with one plate and this document will constitute a waiver for any cite for missing front plate. It did'nt say exactly that but something to this effect. Her plate did not come back missing/stolen, as she claimed it was to me, when I asked her where her front plate was.

Thanks again all

I guess the B*%TCH was right opps!!!!

Hey Chris-this is a GREAT tool to stop a M/V. I use it on click it or ticket shifts or just for a reason to stop......you never know who is operating. I have a tendency to get lazy and rely on IMC query results. Just ask my buddy amf232......(he'll tell you what a sloth I am....)
Hey budy hows the big EB doing come by and visit
