BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --
A Birmingham police officer is facing an attempted murder charge.
Alvin Bland, 29, was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with Monday's incident at the corners of Denmark Avenue and Quebec Drive.
Police said in a statement that Bland and an unnamed 28-year-old male were involved in an argument. The victim alleged that Bland fired a rifle at him, according to police. He was not injured.
Authorities said Bland has served with the department for five years and was assigned to the South Precinct. He was placed in the Jefferson County Jail under a $60,000 bond.
