NEW BEDFORD - A city Little League coach has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl twice within the past month.
David Coderre, 29, of 100 South St., will be arraigned this afternoon at New Bedford District Court, police reported.
Mr. Coderre is accused of molesting the girl in his house in mid-September and again within the past week, New Bedford police spokesman Lt. Jeffrey P. Silva said.
Lt. Silva said Mr. Coderre is known to the victim and her family.
There are no reports of any previous incidents involving the defendant. Sex crimes detectives are still investigating the case.
Lt. Silva said Mr. Coderre is an assistant manager at a Wal-Mart store in Abington. He also said the defendant is a Little League baseball coach, but it could not be immediately confirmed which local league he coached for.

NEW BEDFORD - A judge declined to reduce bail Friday for a city youth baseball coach charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
David Coderre, 29, of 100 South St. has been held on $50,000 bail since he was arraigned Oct. 9 on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery on a person older than 14.
During a bail appeal hearing Friday in New Bedford Superior Court, Mr. Coderre's lawyer, Andrea Devries, asked Judge David A. McLaughlin to lower the defendant's bail to $3,500.
With the defendant's relatives and friends in the courtroom, Ms. Devries said Mr. Coderre has deep ties to the community and noted he has no prior criminal record.
Ms. Devries said Mr. Coderre graduated from Westport High School in 1997, is an assistant manager at Wal-Mart in Abington, and is married with four children, with his wife pregnant with the couple's fifth child.
Ms. Devries added the defendant's family plans to move to Westport and, therefore, would not be near the alleged victim.
Prosecutors requested bail not be reduced, arguing the serious allegations warrant the higher bail.
The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred in Mr. Coderre's house on Sept. 12 and Oct. 3 while the girl was baby-sitting his children.
Police say he molested the girl after they watched movies together.
Prosecutors said the defendant told police detectives he touched the girl. Police said Mr. Coderre is well acquainted with the girl and her family.
Police said the defendant has coached for the Greater New Bedford Youth Baseball League. There are no reports of any other alleged sexual assaults involving Mr. Coderre.
He is scheduled to return to District Court for a pre-trial hearing Nov. 24.
