Baltimore city police are investigating a shooting that involved a police officer.Officer Troy Harris told WBAL TV 11 News that the incident happened after a police officer who had just gotten off duty drove past what appeared to be an argument near the Eastside District Courthouse at Harford Road and North Avenue at about 4:30 p.m.The officer, who was still in uniform, noticed an altercation between two people on a sidewalk, and once he got out of his vehicle, he realized that a man was stabbing a woman, Harris told 11 News.
Harris said the officer commanded the man to stop, but he didn't, so the officer deployed a Taser. The suspect then came off the woman with the knife, so the officer pulled out his service weapon and shot him several times in the side.Harris said both people were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The woman is listed in critical condition and the man is listed as having non-life-threatening injuries. Harris said the officer was uninjured.Police said the relationship between the man and the woman is currently unknown. Harris said the man, who has not yet been identified, had been involved in a domestic violence case at the courthouse earlier in the day.
