A woman stole a cruiser while in custody and authorities are investigating the officer involved to see if he could have stopped this from happening.
Amber O'Malley was handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser for an alleged robbery when she escaped, police said.
Police said the arresting officer rolled down the back window and turned away. O'Malley then slipped out of her handcuffs, reached through the window and opened the door from the outside, police said . She then got into the driver's seat and fled the scene in the cruiser, police said.
After a chase, police were able to track the stolen cruiser with GPS, police said.
O'Malley is in Jail Monday night.
Authorities in Englewood have ordered a critical incident review at the police department.
