Freetown -
Police arrested a 65-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed her husband several times during an argument Sunday.
Marcia E. Bell of Huron Avenue is charged with aggravated assault and battery.
Police said they received a 911 call about 3:30 p.m. from a resident who reported that his wife "stabbed him in the heart three times."
When Sgt. Steven Abbott and officers Donald Bullock and Michael Connell arrived at the couple's residence, they found the husband bleeding from apparent knife wounds to his chest, police stated.
The victim, whose name was withheld by police, was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, and later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Police said an investigation revealed that the couple had argued about their son, who was being held on attempted murder charges. The dispute also was over who was going to care for their son's dog, police added.
The argument culminated with the victim allegedly throwing a shoe at his wife and she then stabbing him, police stated.
A knife and other evidence were confiscated by police.
A clerk-magistrate set bail on Bell at $25,000, pending her arraignment Tuesday in Fall River District Court.
