SHREWSBURY- A woman arrested over the weekend for having crack cocaine in her room at the Worcester City Motel allegedly assaulted a police officer while he was cuffing her.

Luz N. Colon, 43, of 701 Main St., the People in Peril shelter, Worcester, allegedly pushed Officer John Pitro and jumped onto a bed, then had to be subdued by police.

"We … attempted to restrain Colon and she started to hold her arm from us so that we could not put handcuffs on her," Officer Pitro wrote in a police report

When they searched Ms. Colon's room, police found a glass pipe with a black residue from crack cocaine, near the headboard of the bed.

Ms. Colon was arrested Saturday morning at the motel. She was arrested on a warrant; information on the warrant was not immediately available. She was arraigned in Westboro District Court yesterday on charges of assault and battery on a police officer, possession of crack cocaine and resisting arrest. She was held on $500 cash bail and ordered to return to court Aug. 26.

Court records show Ms. Colon is on probation for a previous drug offense, and has been arrested many times on drug possession charges.
