Quincy Man Faces Charges Of Impersonating A Police Officer
BOSTON -- A man charged with impersonating a police officer faces arraignment today in Dorchester District Court in Boston.
Peter Moffitt of Quincy stopped a plain-clothed state trooper last November on Morrissey Boulevard, and flashed a badge. Moffitt works as a security guard at Harbor Point in Boston.
The trooper -- Sergeant Scott Collins -- says Moffitt accused him of almost running him off the road. Collins, who was in an unmarked cruiser, denies that he did any such thing.
Collins said Moffitt later apologized for his actions, and said he was upset at the time because his grandfather had died.
Officials from Longwood Security Services Incorporated, which employs Harbor Point's security guards, has not commented on the case. (AP)
