DEDHAM - A Weymouth man already serving time in prison for paralyzing another man in a stabbing has now pleaded not guilty to murdering the same man.
Nicholas Cirignano entered his plea on Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court in connection with the death of Matthew Nagle.
Cirignano stabbed Nagle at a Fourth of July celebration in 2001 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of attempted murder.
But Nagle died in July 2007 and his death was blamed on the effects of the stabbing, leading to the more serious charge.
Cirignano's lawyer, Kevin Reddington, says his client has been a model inmate and should face a manslaughter charge at most.
