Virginia Sheriff's Deputy Dies While On Duty A Virginia Sheriff's deputy died last week after suffering a medical emergency while on duty. Cpl. Gibran Barclift fell ill and collapsed while working his shift early Aug. 16, according to WAVY-TV. Deputies and jail medical staff responded quickly and worked to save the 39-year-old, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
