I hate the hysteria that erupts when someone finds a Claymore or a grenade....it's like how a gun won't fire unless you squeeze the trigger. A Claymore won't explode unless you insert a blasting cap into it and trigger it, and a grenade won't explode unless you pull the pin and let the spoon fly.
Many years ago, a woman cleaning out the garage of her house after her Vietnam-era veteran husband died found an M-26 "lemon" hand grenade....the real thing. I so bad wanted to just unscrew the fuse and bring the components to the station for the Boston PD Bomb Squad to pick-up, but I had to follow protocol, evacuate the surrounding houses, etc.
