Vest Request

3341 Views 21 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Goose
Hey guys, I am looking for a vest. I have been working without one and would like to have one (we aren't issued them.) I put in a request from the vestforlife.com website, but it's been months with no luck. Some friends on the job have older ones, but they don't fit. So if anyone has one around the Department or has one they'll never put on again, get in touch. I know it's tough to size over the internet, but I am 5'9 average build. 42" chest 32'' waist. Just figured I would post, I had some luck getting gear this way in the past. Would like something to hold me over until I can afford a new vest. I can make decent donation to the person/dept, but cannot drop as much as new. Thanks.

isn't your department getting the BVP grant? What cheap ass town ain't providing vest?
Part time guys aren't issued them at my dept Truck. Sucks. Hush I will take a look through that link thank you.
The last department I was part time with used the grant to pay for half the cost of the vest with the officer paying the other half. There is no reason not to do this, other than admin simply not giving a crap.

My city.

My vest is 10+ years old, the Velcro straps no longer hold, so it basically drapes on my torso, and it stinks to high heaven because I can't remove the carrier to wash it.

I've told my wife to sue the city and the chief personally if I'm shot and killed, and my outdated vest failed to stop a round for which it's rated.

Bruce maybe the media should run a story about your vest being "expired" instead of the BS story about the LTC expired. MSP had an issue with old vests a few years ago that the media caught wind of...next thing you know pretty much the entire 78th and 79th were fitted for new vests.

Unreal, our town gets us new vest every three years for all officers. Some guys never even take theirs out of the box and they get a new one and never take it out of the box and get an new one and never...
The state dishes out welfare money for two terrorists but cities and towns can't get money for vests. What a sick sick place this is.

That sucks but some companies are so bad now that even if you ordered new, you might not get what you were measured for.
I don't know who my last vest was made for and the same thing just happened to my husband. He's expired and awaiting proper replacement.
Are you looking for an expired vest?

Griffin even if its expired it's better than just the shirt I'm wearing. That's how i look at it.
Gain weight, and try to get taller.
Army Barracks in Saugus has old Point Blank level II vests for under $200...but they're all XXXL. You CAN trim panels to size as long as you melt the edges and heat seal the seams. Then you just need a smaller carrier.
