I don't attend a movie theatre because the costs are just too expensive. If my wife and I were to take in a movie, it would cost no less than $30.00 for the evening - and that is for just one movie. So, we stay home and watch pay-per-view. We are in the comfort of our own home, we can belch, pass gas, snort, gurgle and anything else we want without offending some stranger. We don't have to listen to the idiots talking, babies crying or teens slurping and chomping. All it cost us is $3.00 or $4.00 for the movie - HD movies are a dollar more.

Now, here is the ruse! The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) are unhappy because they are not getting their fair share from home entertainment so they are talking "STRIKE!" Fortunately, there are some of the level headed, liberal, Hollywood set out there who are aware of the world financial crisis and are arguing No Strike - a good move on their part.

Then, there are the prima-donna athletes like Manny Ramirez who are asking for ridiculous amounts of money to play sports.

Personally, I believe all of us common folk should rebel. Don't attend or watch any pay-per-view movie; don't rent any movie or gamel don't attend an athletic event. We should do this for at least three months and demonstrate to the spoiled, arrogant, self absorbed idiots that it is we, the fans, who ultimately pay their exorbitant salaries and we are not going to do so anymore. Wonder how they would like that?

Okay, that's it! Thanks for listening (er, ah, reading).

Other than kid's movies (ask me about Kung-Fu Panda or WALL-E), I haven't been inside a movie theatre in years. As for home, as long as I have A&E, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and Seinfeld re-runs, I'm a happy guy.

I don't go to the movies either. Where I live, there is something called the "Red Box." You get to rent any movie they have for one dollar a night. It is all new releases too.

too bad they didn't still have ushers to keep the lowlifes in line.

listing to idiots yell at the screen and getting pelted with raisinets took me out of the theater years ago.

did take in the new Bond movie at Braintree last week. surprising well behaved sunday night crowd. couple of homeys on their cell phones , but nothing like the old Dedham theater years ago.

99% of the time just wait for the DVD

+1 Can't stand 98% of the crap that's on TV these days and I'm the friggen target audience. If it's not really real (sans some comedies) I have no interest in it.

Red Box is good stuff, having one at the cumbies near my house is nice. I personally love Netflix. Unlimited rentals per month and keep them as long as you want, really quick turnaround (usually have a new movie in ~3 days of putting it in the mail box) and it's reasonably priced, you can get 2 movies at a time for less than two movie tickets..
