An Uxbridge man will serve up to four years in prison and then five years' probation as punishment for raping a child.
Christopher A. Schauer, 36, was sentenced earlier this month by Judge John S. McCann in Worcester Superior Court to three to four years in the state prison in Walpole, said Tim Connolly, spokesman for the district attorney's office.
Schauer, of 18 Veterans Parkway, pleaded guilty Oct. 14 to three counts of rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, Connolly said.
As a condition of his probation, Schauer will also have to register as a sex offender.
Schauer was arrested in November following an Uxbridge Police investigation.
Police said the girl was 13 years old when the crimes began.
The Department of Social Services became involved after his arrest because other children under the age of 14 lived with the victim. They are not alleged to have been assaulted by Schauer, police said.
