My contract expired as of December 2002. So far all I've heard about negotiations is the Romney is offering all unions the same "offer" 0%, 0%, and 0% over the next three years.

Serious as a heart attack. Nothing for three years + the 2 years w/o we've already had= nothing for 5 years! Unfortunately the Governor is not taking the hint from states like Florida where the pay is so low, and the benefits are so bad that most qualified people avoid state service like the plague. As a state employee I find it personally offensive that the Governor will release press statements that he wants to create tax cuts because the economy is doing so well and yet offers the state union employees (remember non-union managers got an across the board pay raise a year or so ago) nothing and tells us that we need to understand that there is a fiscal crisis?! It dosen't work that way there is either $ or there isn't. I know an awful lot of state employees who are just waiting until they are vested and then they will be walking away from the state for good. I can't say I blame them. Sorry for the rant but its been kind of a sore subject.

Well if it makes you feel any better MBTA Just took the 0,0,0,. Im just amazed that that seems to be the trend. Kinda makes you feel like the 12 percent Menino offered the BPPA as a gift!

Well....................

0% I can live with. It's Incentives we need! Don't you all want to run out and get your EMT certification for a $300 yearly stipend? Lets see.........thats less than < 1% of base salary. How about 2.5/5/7.5% for Associate/Bachelors/Masters? Not as lucrative as Quinn, but don't we want educated cops cruising our Higher Ed environments? And shouldn't any degree be considered?

Oh and how about an AFSCME brother who transfers from one Community College where he was a step 8, and gets to the other Community College where they can only "give him" step 4 to avoid potential grievance? Ya Okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:uc:

Need I go on?

mpd61,

They can't do that according to the afscme contract, you can't get paid less to go from one state job to another, especially when your going from a CPOI somewhere to another CPO1 job at another agency, DEFINATELY check that contract book, it might not have much in there, but it does have that.
