A Mounds View man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly dragging an undercover police officer with his car the previous night.
Police arrested the 27-year-old man, who has not yet been formally charged, shortly after 10 a.m. today in Columbia Heights.
The man is considered a suspect in the dragging of an undercover officer Thursday night after the officer chased him outside a Leeann Chin Restaurant at 101 89th Ave. E. in Blaine.
The Anoka County deputy, part of a drug task force with Anoka and Hennepin counties, suffered a fractured shoulder and various bumps and scrapes. He was released from Mercy Hospital in **** Rapids, said Lt. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities were called to the restaurant at 6:47 p.m. because of an argument between two men, one with a gun. They arrived to find that the undercover officer had been assaulted by a man who fled the restaurant.
The investigator, while trying to arrest the man, was dragged before he fired his gun once, hitting the suspect's vehicle before he escaped.
