UNCLE GUY: We want Guy Glodis to be our friend at our next Bar Mitzvah/Communion/Christening/Wedding/Sweet Sixteen/Coming of Age ritual. Over the past two months, Glodis has given $100 for a first communion gift, and $200 for a "christing [sic] gift." Neither is necessarily a campaign fund violation, though. State Office of Campaign and Political Finance spokesman Jason Tait, while not speaking directly about Glodis, cites regulation 2.06, which states that personal gifts are allowed if a candidate "will receive publicity and foster political goodwill." Of course, the regulation also states that the candidate should have "no personal relationship with the individual or his family," and "the gift would not be made but for the interest in it enhancing the political future of the candidate."
