Thieves Make Off With Electronics, Cash, Dad Says
BOSTON -- Students attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell who have been housed at a Nashua, N.H., hotel because of a lack of dorm space got a rude surprise when someone broke into their rooms over the weekend and stole laptops, Xboxes, wallets and TVs.
A parent of one of the students staying at the Radisson Hotel Nashua told the Nashua Telegraph that at least four students, all freshmen, were burglarized sometime between late Saturday night and early Sunday.
Kevin Rogers, of Roylston, Mass., said the thieves apparently made off with the goods while some of the students were sleeping in their beds in the same rooms.
The school has housed about 240 undergraduate students at the hotel, which is 10 miles from its campus, for the first semester because the school had an unexpectedly large number of incoming students and transfers this fall.
The police would only say they are investigating the situation.
