MEREDITH, N.H. -- Police in Meredith said two Laconia women were arrested after passing homemade checks at area businesses.
Police said Susan Weeks, 31, and Melissa Kimball, 22, were able to steal thousands of dollars passing fake payroll checks at small convenience stores and supermarkets.
Police said more arrests may be forthcoming. They have also advised small businesses to use caution when cashing unfamiliar checks.
