CARBONDALE, Ill. - Authorities say two Illinois State Police troopers in southern Illinois were shot and injured by a suspect who was fatally shot by officers.

Trooper David Sneed says the troopers' injuries are not considered life-threatening. They are being treated at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

Sneed says officers were serving a drug search warrant at a Williamson County home Thursday morning when the shootout occurred.

He says that officers announced who they were but the man inside, identified as William Patrich, opened fire and struck two troopers. Officers then shot Patrich.

Sneed says the other officers involved will be placed on administrative duty as the incident is investigated.

One of two Illinois State Police troopers wounded in a southern Illinois shootout that killed a suspect remains hospitalized.
A nursing supervisor at Carbondale's Memorial Hospital says the trooper is in stable condition, a day after being shot while he and other authorities were serving a search warrant in a Williamson County drug case.
The other wounded trooper has been released from the hospital.
Officers during the raid announced who they were but a man inside the house, identified as 61-year-old William Patrich, opened fire and struck two troopers. Patrich was killed in the gunfire exchange.
Names of the wounded troopers haven't been released.
