Two people were seriously injured and flown to the hospital after the car they were driving in rolled over on Interstate 495 North near the Rte. 20 ramp in Marlborough.
According to Massachusetts State Police Lt. Eric Anderson, the accident happened at 10:40 p.m. Saturday when a 2006 Chevy Cobalt driven by an adult male rolled over into the highway median. An adult female passenger was ejected from the car and the driver was trapped when fire and police crews arrived.
The northbound side of the highway was closed so two Lifeflight helicopters could land on the road and take the victims to area hospitals. The driver was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester and the passenger was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Anderson said. No conditions or names were available.
State police, Marlborough fire and police, MassHighway and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene.
