Two men were shot, one fatally, by Chicago Police in separate incidents Saturday night and early Sunday on the South Side.
The first incident happened outdoors on the 4400 block of South King Drive about 8:30 p.m., according to Independent Police Review Authority spokesman Mark Payne.
Officers there were confronted by an armed man, an officer discharged his weapon and the man was fatally wounded, according to police News Affairs.
Multiple weapons were recovered from the scene, according to Payne, who could not confirm reports the man was a robbery suspect.
The man was identified as Ahmad Hicks, 28, of the 340 block of East 71st Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m.
A second man was shot in a police-involved shooting about 12:45 a.m. at 65th and Wood streets in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood, according to Payne, who said police initially responded a block away at 65th Street and Hermitage Avenue.
A man was shot by a police officer and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Payne said.
A weapon was recovered at the scene but it was not clear whether the man shot was armed, Payne said.
No officers were injured in the incidents.
Both shootings remain under investigation by the Independent Police Review Authority and Wentworth Area detectives.
