WAREHAM - Two men were arrested Sunday after allegedly robbing and assaulting a man and a woman near the Woods of Wareham apartment complex.
Domenic J. Rezendes, 18, of 1021 South Park Ave. in Titusville, Florida and Kelvin Finger, 18, of 67 Marion Rd. in Wareham were charged by Wareham police with assault and battery, two counts of unarmed robbery, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with serious injury for their alleged involvement with the incident.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., Wareham Police Officer Daniel Flaherty, assisted by sergeant Kevin Walsh and officers Michael Smith and Jon Verhaegen responded to multiple 911 calls concerning a disturbance at the Woods of Wareham apartment complex on Swifts Beach Road. While responding, Officer Flaherty was flagged down by the victims of an assault at the corner of Swifts Beach Road and Marion Road.
The two victims said that they were visiting a friend at the apartment complex, and when they were leaving they were approached by two men who began questioning who they were and why they were in the complex. The two men allegedly then started to punch and kick them and robbed them. The suspects allegedly took a pair of sunglasses, an earring and a cell phone from the male victim, and a cell phone and $100 from the female victim.
Based on their description, officers soon located Mr. Rezendes at the apartment complex and placed him under arrest. Mr. Finger later came to the Wareham Police Station on his own volition and was placed under arrest.
The two will be arraigned today in Wareham District Court. The victims were taken to Tobey Hospital after the assault and were later released.
