RANDOLPH -
Police say they arrested two men breaking into a house on Quill Lane after a woman who was alone in the house called them.
Detective Lt. Arthur Sullivan offered the following account:
The woman inside the house called police about 11:25 a.m. Monday after she saw two men approach the house. One of the men went around to the back and tried to force open a sliding glass door; the other knocked on the front door.
Several marked and unmarked police cars responded to the call while police officer Kristen Emberley kept talking to the woman to calm her down.
Safety Officer Robert LeGrice and patrol officers Kinnon Ryan and Miguel Cruz were among the first at the scene.
"Officer LeGrice went around to the side of the house and saw one of the suspects climbing through the basement window," Sullivan said.
The second suspect was already inside the house, Sullivan said. Both were arrested without incident, he said.
Charged with breaking and entering were Antonio Wiley, 17, of Hyde Park and a 16-year-old boy from Mattapan.
Sullivan said police are investigating to determine if the two are responsible for other burglaries in town.
"It was a great job by the dispatcher, Kristen Emberley, to calm down the woman, who was clearly in fear," Sullivan said. "And the quick response of the other officers led to the arrests."
