The family of a Worcester man who died after he was arrested at a state police checkpoint in North Andover three years ago has settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed against three law enforcement agencies for $1.6 million.

When I was a Boston Housing cop, one of the BHA Administrators during my tenure refused to settle lawsuits against the police department. In his words, "I have an entire floor of lawyers who I'm paying anyway, let them go to court".

Surprise, surprise....once the word got out that the BHA was taking everything to court, the lawsuits stopped like someone shut off a faucet.

knew I shouldn't have posted in this thread!!!!!!!! I just got an email from legal, I'm getting sued!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooo Whoooooooo....... Yea ME! Out of all the arrests, it is the most bullshit of them....... I CAN'T WAIT for the deposition......CAN'T WAIT!

As an old-timer once said, "You're not a cop until you've been sued".

From someone who's been there....during the deposition, always look at your lawyer for approval before you answer each question. Besides protecting yourself, it drives the plaintiff's attorney bat-shit crazy.
