Tractors Can Stay On Roads For 10 Miles

CONCORD, Mass. -- Notoriously impatient Massachusetts drivers now have another reason to gripe.

Tractors that were previously allowed to plug along state roads for just two miles are now allowed to go up to 10 miles.

The new rule that took effect last week was part of the Massachusetts Dairy Farm Revitalization Bill enacted in August. It was added by State Rep. Steve Kulik, D-Worthington, at the request of a farmer in his district.
State Agriculture Department assistant commissioner Scott Soares called the change "a minor inconvenience" that helps farmers who often travel between scattered plots.

Mark Duffy has 180 cows in Carlisle, but rents land in Acton, Concord and Chelmsford. The new rule makes it easier for him to haul feed between them on his tractor with a top speed of 18 mph.

Glad to see the legislature knocking down important issues and getting them passed

Who gives a f*ck? Useless nerds on Beacon Hill. Was someone writing tickets to farmers because they're driving more than the alloted 2 miles? WTF?
