Thief breaks into Dallas police car during domestic disturbance call
10:42 AM CDT on Thursday, July 17, 2008

Citation books, an officer's credit cards and badge were among the items stolen from a squad car early this morning, Dallas police said.
Senior Cpl. Colette Barber and her trainee, Officer Ryan Bluhm, responded to reports of a family disturbance in the 7400 block of Chaucer Place around 12:15 a.m.
While the officers were inside the home, a thief squeezed his or her hand through the partially cracked passenger window, unlocked the door and made off with Senior Cpl. Barber's badge, phone, car keys and credit cards, police said.
"This isn't the first time it's happened," said Dallas police Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse. "It's just one of those crimes of opportunity - seems kind of risky though."
The thief also got away with traffic and parking citation books, and attempted to steal the squad car's computer.
