AUBURN (NEWS CENTER) -- Later today police will charge a Lisbon man who led police on a wild chase.
Auburn police say they recieved a report of a theft at Superior Concrete on Minot Street around 9 Monday night. There they found Bartolo Ford in a dump truck hauling cement tiles, investigators believe were taken from Superior Concrete.
Police say Ford led police on a chase during which he rammed the cruiser of Corporal Kristopher Bouchard. Bouchard then fired his gun at Ford. He was struck in the hip. But the police pursuit continued.
Ford rammed two other cruisers before abandoning his truck on Hines Road in Poland. Ford had also struck two parked cars in the process.
Ford was eventually located a short distance away. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in satisfactory condition.
No police officers were in injured in the chase.
Corporal Bouchard has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Attorney General's office.
More than 25 officers participated in this incident. Police say their crime scene is 10 miles long.
