I have looked at numerous post but to no avail..... What does the "medical" consist of? What do they check you for ect? This may seem like a stupid question but I have my reasons, thanks!!!
They basically want know that your somewhat healthy and whether or not youve had some kind of surgery that could effect your training. For example, multiple back surgery, torn acl, all that stuff.
Thanks for the info. I sort of thought they would send you out to different doctors to get and eyes and ears checked ect...
So BSULL, are you basically on your honor during the exam? They ask the questions, and if you did have chronic back pain for example, and you don't mention it, you could slide by?

if it's the medical exam before you enter the academy it's pretty basic ( at least it was 15 years ago ) funny story , had to go get a physical for the department before starting the academy and off to the neighborhood clinic i go ( had no health ins. at the time ) people are pouring out of this place , seems the regular doc is out and some chinese guy is taking his place. i don't care who's doing the exam as long as he signs off on the waiver , so i walk into his office. what you here for? i need a doctor to sign this paper. what paper for ? a prison job. what you do ? well , for starters i have to do 25 pushups. ok , do 25 pushup ! ( so i get on the floor of his office and do 25 pushups ) ok , now what ? i have to do 35 situps. ok , do 35 situp ! (and again i'm on the floor during situps this time ) ok , now what ? i have to run a mile in 10 minutes you look pretty healthy , i think you run mile no problem ! great doc , can you sign here ? there your are , that will be $25 dollar ! If you ask nicely they will diddle yer pooper. yikes ! that doesn't sound pleasant actually had to get a more thorough exam working for BFI ( rubbish company )than the DOC but it sounds like corrections is getting more strict on applicants </IMG>
