Two officers charged with beating Pasadena cop

The Houston Chronicle

PASADENA, Texas - An apparent love triangle among three police officers erupted in violence this weekend, landing two of them in court today, officials said.
Tina Marie Perez, 37, a Pasadena police officer, and Timothy Robert Troxell, 38, a South Houston police sergeant, are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a confrontation between them and another Pasadena police officer, said Charles Adams, Perez's attorney.
Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell identified the victim as officer Marvin Ouellette, 36.
Perez and Troxell appeared in court this morning, but were rescheduled to appear again Nov. 12. They are free on $30,000 bond each.
Both could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the charges, said Assistant District Attorney Katie Warren. She declined to discuss the evidence against the two law officers.
Adams said Perez had broken off her relationship with Ouellette. She then began dating Troxell. Ouellette surprised the couple at Perez's home in the 9700 block of Ebb about 4 a.m. Friday after the couple returned from a date, Adams said. All the officers were off duty.
Ouellette attacked Perez outside her home and Troxell defended her, Adams said. A neighbor saw portions of the attack.
Ouellette was treated at a hospital and released, Mitchell said. Perez has been placed on administrative leave, he said.
Adams said that Perez had previously filed a complaint against Ouellette with the Houston Police Department alleging that he had assaulted her
Houston police spokesman Gabe Ortiz said today he was unable to find any record of complaints filed by Perez against Ouellette.
Chief Herbert Gilbert at South Houston PD declined to comment about the allegations against his employee.
"It's a Houston [police] case," he said.
Troxell is a 5 1/2 year veteran of the South Houston Police Department. Troxell, a patrol sergeant, is currently suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, Gilbert said.
