A Texas man was arrested yesterday after fighting with people he was staying with when they discovered he was using heroin, police said.
Keegan Helweg, 29, was arrested at 2:53 a.m. after a neighbor called the police about a loud argument at the 1620 Worcester Road apartment, police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany said.
When officers arrived, Helweg was alone and he let them in. "On the kitchen table there were several hypodermic needles and a spoon with heroin on it," Shastany said.
A substance, believed to be heroin, was cooking on top of an upside down cola can.
Police arrested him, and when he was searched at the station, police found a small bag of heroin in his pocket.
"He was a guest for a couple of weeks and (his friends) found out he was using (heroin)," said Shastnay. "There was an argument ... and someone called police."
Helweg, of 7105 Lyric Drive, Austin, was charged with possession of heroin and knowingly being present where heroin is kept.
Helweg pleaded guilty at his Framingham District Court arraignment yesterday. He was placed on probation for one year.
