Texan pair charged with assault on officers

September 29, 2008

Two residents of Southlake, Texas, were arrested early yesterday in front of the Boston Harbor Hotel, accused of assaulting three police officers and using racist language with members of the hotel staff.
Jennifer Miller, 36, and John Miller, 41, were charged with disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer, and trespassing.
Jennifer Miller also was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, a shod foot.
Officers were called to the Millers' room to assist hotel security in escorting unruly guests off the property about 1:30 a.m.
Police said the duo continued to use derogatory language toward officers and staff while in their room, and were taken to the hotel lobby.
"John brushed up and continued to push into officers to instigate," said Officer Eddy Chrispin of Boston police. "The woman also kicked an officer at the booking desk."
An officer received a minor scratch to the hand, according to police.
The hotel did not report any damage to the room in which the Millers had been staying.
The two are to be arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court.

HOW 'BOUT THEM TEXANS: John T. Miller, 41, and wife Jennifer Miller, 36, of Texas appear yesterday in Boston Municipal Court, where they answered to a host of charges.

A well-turned-out Texan and his stunning stiletto-heeled wife pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges they acted like boorish buckaroos while guests of the luxurious Boston Harbor Hotel, allegedly attacking police and berating staff with racist slurs.
The Rowes Wharf rodeo was allegedly precipitated by the lovers locking horns at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in a boudoir brawl in Room 1103, and then refusing to ride off into the sunrise at the request of hotel security.
John Troy Miller, 41, a self-described self-made collegiate sports marketing consultant from Southlake, Texas, just north of Dallas, shook his head and rolled his eyes after Boston Municipal Court Judge Annette Forde ordered him and the missus to appear in person at a pretrial conference Oct. 30.
He is free on $500 cash bail.
Jennifer Miller, 36, sleekly dressed entirely in black yesterday right down to her stiletto heels, is free on $700 cash bail.
Assistant Suffolk District Attorney Patrick Driscoll Jr. spoke to what he called "very serious allegations," and even apologized to Forde at one point for repeating some of the words Jennifer Miller is accused of spewing, while she threatened to sue both police and the hotel.
Jennifer Miller, Driscoll said, even drew blood from one Boston officer she allegedly scratched while being booked, in addition to kicking a cop. Her husband is accused of bumping officers in a combative manner.
Boston police described the handsome hell-raisers in an incident report as "hostile, rude and confrontational," and as having used "profane and racist derogatory language toward the hotel staff and officers."
The ruckus was so bad that other guests were coming out of their rooms to see what was going on, police said.
The Millers are each charged with disturbing the peace, assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
