STOUGHTON -
A teenager was stabbed Saturday night during a fight outside a Deady Avenue house party that "went out of control," police said.
Shots were fired from a vehicle as police broke up the fight, Stoughton police Executive Officer Robert Devine said.
Devine said the 17-year-old son of Lisa Ruffin of 222 Deady Ave. sent out a blanket "e-invite" on a Web site. More than 200 youths - some total strangers - showed up, and police were called in when parked cars began blocking traffic.
Lisa Ruffin consented to and was present at the party, Devine said.
"It became increasingly out of control," he said. "The officers decided it was time to shut (the party) down. When you get so many kids in one place, you never know what is going to happen."
Police did not find alcohol or drugs at the house, he said.
As officers escorted the youths to their vehicles, three male teenagers began fighting, Devine said.
As Detective Sgt. Daniel McGowan approached the youths, he heard two gunshots and saw muzzle flashes coming from a white Chevrolet pickup truck.
McGowan drew his service weapon and ordered the three youths to the ground as the vehicle sped away, police said.
"I think he (truck occupant) was kind of firing indiscriminately into the crowd. It was lucky no one got hit," Devine said.
McGowan then noticed that one of the three detained youths was bleeding from stab wounds on his side and leg. The wounds were not life-threatening, Devine said.
The youth, a 17-year-old from Milton, was taken by Stoughton Fire Department ambulance to Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton.
Although police did not find shell casings at the scene, "that doesn't mean they didn't fall into the truck," Devine said.
He said the three youths have not been charged with a crime.
