I just read an update in the Taunton Gazette that the Taunton City Council has ordered the Police Chief to accept applications for LTCs/FIDs. The council told the Chief that it is unlawful for him to refuse to accept applications for LTC/FID. The council advised the Chief he is not permitted to decline accepting applications however he is permitted to deny the issuing of such permits. I would think that the Police Chief should know the firearm laws apparently this isn't the case????????

It is my understanding that the law states that the issuing authority has so many days to render a decision if a permit will be granted to the applicant and then so many days to actually issue the permit. 8)

Apparently his admistrative staff was cut, and it was those people that did the bulk of the FID processing. He started refusing applications after this happened.
