What the heck is going on in Taunton? I just read where one copper was arraigned on AB DW shod foot charges and another was jammed up for having sex with a minor. Say it isn't so!!

Yup. Entertaining times.

I'm not on Taunton PD, but I do live here :)

If you were to do a lexis-nexis search of police and incidents, you would see that every department has spent some time in the barrel due to the lack of discretion, or outright lawbreaking by individuals on their department.

What you won't see in the paper is all of the Verizon employees, or Members of the ABA, etc that were in trouble in the past month...
At the 12th hour the city decided it was best to settle a case rather than face (and probably lose) another arbitration hearing. The officer was reinstated to his former rank (Sgt) with backpay, etc. To all the union naysayers in the field, look closely!

Another slip on the ice by a TPD copper. Apparently a veteran copper was attacked by some knucklehead at a charity event. The copper defends himself, then gets charged for AB DW shod foot. Unbelievable!

A buddy called to relate that another TPD copper is in the soup. This one also over some brawl with a drunk. He said the DA indicted him on AB DW shod foot charges. Say it isn't so!!

i was thinking about applying to TPD, i guess not LOL
Taunton has a great pd and would be ideal to get into. What a lot of people dont know is they hire permanent intermittents. As of now there are about 15 on the roster and they are looking to put some on full time if the money comes through. My co-worker was appointed in the year 2000 and was told he has a shot this summer of getting on, so keep that in mind when selecting it as a choice on the exam.
I agree with that sir. Anyone a resident of Taunton should certainly take the exam and do well. A good mark, + vet status will help. And, as stated, if all goes well they may very well exhaust many of those on the current P/I list. Have patience though because it can be a looooong wait!
The recovery has begun! Three more officers July 1st and gosh, who knows what lies for the future! :D
Well I'm going to put Taunton as my #1 choice for the next test, I have residency preference now, so that should help me, have a full time academy from FL and I'm going through a R/I academy now at Westpord PD, that should help I hope. I'm a vet and bilingual, but one of the cop that work there said that it take like 7 years to get on. Do they have Reserve police?

re-read post#6
This morning's paper said that the last three guys on the reserve list are getting hired in January and probably start an academy shortly thereafter. It is my understanding however that this is the end of the reserve list system. The city has realized that the benefits accrued are "costly and unwarranted." We'll see. Things change around here with the wind.
Sounds like big things going down in Ttown. Wish I could have more than one residency come May!
I guess now I have to reconsider my options LOL
heard the sagudo boys PD is hiring......ask Sgt. Palmer...

Por Que?
LMAO, Sgt. Palmer is not doing well, been sick, so who do I ask now?
lets hope he gets better reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy soon! u goin to Steves party?
The last three on Taunton's police reserve list WERE scheduled to attend the Boylston Academy in January. However, they were informed that the class is full and now must wait until the spring for Plymouth or somewhere else. The "revised" plan was last minute; I feel bad for the poor soul that already gave his notice.
