once again, as a many of the police officers here can attest - many of us were correction officers or campus police officers before obtaining our current job. Like the vast majority can attest, we have NO qualms with correction officers or Deputies who EARNED their job. Personally, I think EVERY deputy should have to work as a full time correction officer for 1 year before being appointed as a deputy - similar to the state correction department. It's not the deputies that earn their job and do what they were hired to do that irk real police, it's the" buy a position"political, or otherwise, deputies who seek to circumvent the system and play police officer. If all deputies simply did what they were hired to do, and ZERO/NONE were hired for traffic enforcement, 9-1-1 or other police related matters - there would be no disrespect towards them. It's the few that could not pass the muster to be police that try to buy a position as a deputy and then seek responsibilities that are simply NOT theirs that raise an eyebrow. If you earned a posistion as a deputy by working full time with inmates for a year - congratulations. You are respected as being a deputy. But you still do not do 9-1-1 calls, regular police calls or traffic enforcement. You are not a police officer so stop trying to impersonate one. We do dot impersonate deputies. - If you bought a posistion as a deputy with money or by holding a campaign sign or through political connections- fagetaboutit - you will never be respected by anyone in law enforcement. Pearl. I know that you are a correction officer and a part time police officer - I respect you. It's the deputies that refuse to pay their dues by walking the walk that alot of us are irked by. They don't think they need to EARN it and that shows the inherent disrespect they have for the very posistion they bought. Wannabe police.
