DANVERS (WBZ) ― A middle school student was hit by a car on her way to school in Danvers Monday morning.
Police say the girl was in a crosswalk on Centre Street when she was struck just before 7 a.m.
The driver stopped. The girl was rushed to the hospital with a serious leg injury, but it is not life-threatening, Sgt. Robert Bettencourt told WBZ. Bettencourt said the driver will likely be given a citation.
The names of the student and the driver have not been released.
The girl is a student at the Holten Richmond Middle School, according to the Boston Globe.
