i think that stringers show is a little ridiculous, but calling them whacker is pushing it, IMHO.

for anybody who doesnt know, its a show about freelance videographers. they drive around waiting for news worthy incidents, film them, and sell the tape to the networks.

they shouldnt be speeding, since the only folks that can legally do that are emergency vehicles. the lights are a bit much. take the extra 30 seconds to park it properly, or as close as you can. the scanners dont bother me at all. that is how they get their leads to go out and make a living. they arent sitting at home on friday night, listening to the cops and fondling themselves, using the "product" to shine their cmpsa badges. this is how they make a living.

all in all, the show is a little hinky, but ive seen worse.

So the episode were the "Stringer" stops for the broken down car on the highway and "provides lights" until Ponch and Joh show up is not a WHACKER ????? Not kicking you in the bag Kev, but I disagree.

ive never heard of them just providing lights. but they do of course have lights their cameras. with no medical or rescue training, they are doing what they know, shooting video and trying to sell it to make a buck.

ive only seen a few episodes of the show, so im far from an expert. but i do know that when i watch the nes(very rarely) i do prefer to watch good scene video instead of the talking heads.

i dont consider the scanner so be excessive. thats how they do their job. it seems reasonable to me that, to put food on the table, they have to monitor police and fire traffic. again, they arent wacking off to the radio traffic, just making a living.

the whole cvpi thing, well, thats a bit much. it is however worth noting that, if you need to mount multiples radios in your vehicle, there arent a whole lot of cars that are readily able to accommodate that. the benefit to the cv is that you can get them dirt cheap and there are 500 companies that make a drop in console for every year of that car.

the tints are irrelevant. people will tint any car. '83 honda hatchback, 08 denali, 07 mazda 6. it doesnt matter. they are more than likely to have thier car tinted regardless of make/model.

does any of this lend any credibility to what they do? to some of you, no. they lost you at driving a cv, listening to a scanner or taking part in emergency scenes without being part of emergency services. but i can at least understand that that is how they make their living and i dont begrudge anybody the opportunity to enjoy their work.
