SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Sticks of gum helped Springfield police crack the case of some downtown car break-ins. Two brothers have been arrested and charged with breaking into several vehicles.
Sergeant John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department told 22News that Jose Torres and Ramon Torres of 28 Webster Street in Springfield were arrested this morning.
Police were called to a car break in at Worthington Street this morning where they found "Fruit Stripe Gum" all over the front seat.
Police were given a description of the suspects, who were tracked down a short time later, and positively identified as the one who broke into the car.
Both Torres' brothers had numerous sticks of "Fruit Stripe Gum" in their pockets. The gum is being kept as evidence.
