2 Men Found Dead In West Paris Saturday Night

WEST PARIS, Maine -- Maine state police are offering few details about the deaths of two men in the town of West Paris. But Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland said the deaths have been categorized as "highly suspicious."

An investigation was launched Saturday evening after a motorist saw a body next to a stone wall outside a home. Detectives now say that was the body of 50-year-old Timothy Mayberry, who lived alone in the bungalow-style house.

McCausland said detectives are working on the identity of a second man found inside the home.

No cause of death has been released.

Search Warrant Issued In West Paris Suspicious Deaths

2 Men Found Dead Saturday

SUMNER, Maine -- Maine State Police spokesperson Steve McCausland said police have served a search warrant on a home in Sumner Monday afternoon.

McCausland would not identify the homeowner but said the search is connected to the investigation into the suspicious deaths of two men in West Paris on Saturday.

The state police tactical team is in the area of 30 Front St.

Arrest Made In West Paris Deaths

Sumner Man Charged With Two Counts Of Murder

WEST PARIS, Maine -- Maine State Police on Monday arrested 32-year-old Duane Waterman, of Sumner, and charged him with two counts of murder.

The arrest stems from the deaths of Timothy Mayberry and Todd Smith in West Paris on July 26.

Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said Waterman was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. in Livermore while he fished at Brettuns Pond. McCausland said Waterman was cooperative with police.

Waterman is charged with murder in deaths of 50-year-old Mayberry and 43-year-old Smith, whose bodies were discovered two Saturdays ago.
