Officer Kevin Ambrose
A veteran Springfield police officer brutally gunned down yesterday in the line of duty by an enraged Rikers Island prison guard during a domestic violence call loved his job so much he put off retirement.
Officer Kevin Ambrose “paid the ultimate sacrifice,” Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno said yesterday just hours after the triple-shooting in the city.
RIP Brother, and God Bless you and your family.
Shooter Shawn Bryan's mother speaks to 22News
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WWLP) - Tonight on 22News at 6, Laura Hutchinson will have an exclusive interview with the mother of Shawn Bryan, the New York corrections officer who police say shot and killed Springfield Officer Kevin Ambrose .
You will hear why she says that her son went up to his estranged girlfriend’s Springfield apartment, and why she says she may hire a lawyer to have the case investigated.
This should be a very interesting interview. I hope the race card isn't played or the mother carries on about how her son is the true victim here and there was a conspiracy. She just needs to bury her son and deal with this without getting lawyers involved. I hope I'm wrong about her motives and I understand that she's probably torn up inside about this. She has to face that her son was a bad seed. He wasn't the person she thought he was. For someone to kill 2 people and himself there were deep issues within him that I'm sure she had no idea about. It would be wrong for her to blame anyone but her son for this.
I'm sure Talbert Swan (NAACP) will be contacting her giving condolences and assuring her that he'll call for a full investigation into this incident because the white officer obviously pushed her son to do this. Speaking of Rev. Swan I haven't heard him denounce the shooting or call a press conference surrounded by the numerous "clergy."
I shouldn't of watched the interview with Bradley's shitbag mother. She certainly is portraying him as the true victim and is "skeptical" that her son would kill anyone and plans on hiring a lawyer to investigate this matter. What a remorseless twat she turned out to be.
She's trying to shift the blame to the ex-girlfriend and says that she told her son to go up to Springfield in order to get visitation for his child at family court. Mommy dearest also added her son had been paying child support but he was being denied access to his child. She went on to say that there were "two sides to every story" and that her since her son was in law enforcement he can't be responsible for this crime.
Go right on ahead, momma. Ain't no lottery winner here.
Just caught the beginning of the Red Sox/Orioles game. They had a moment of silence for Officer Ambrose just before the National Anthem. Very classy of them.
Buddy just texted me a short video of SPD and MSP escorting Officer Ambrose back from Boston to the funeral home. I've no idea how to upload it but the motorcade stretches as far as the eye can see and is very moving. Funeral is on Friday, details still being hammered out.
if you can, email it to yourself and put it on youtube or something, I've been trying to get video of that today but have had no luck so far

I've gotten a lot of calls with just " we need a cop here" CLICK. Then the callback goes right to voice mail. Then when 3 cars show up the responding officers are accused of overreacting.
MTC is not blaming the victim. The only victim here is Officer Ambrose.
A majority of DV "victims" are just as much to blame as the agressor. They stay with the agressor, refuse to get an RO, When they do it is vacated faster then it is issued. When we arrest the agressor for beating the shit out of them they then refuse to testify. So again the only victim in this case is Officer Ambrose,
I'll check the article again, but I'm pretty sure she was killed as well.
Edit: I shouldn't post when I am tired.
Mitchell was taken to Baystate Medical Center before being transferred to UMass Memorial in Worcester where she is in stable condition.
Can't wait to hear her side of this
I'm sure her lawyer will speak eloquently on her behalf. I predict she'll sue the Springfield PD for not protecting her. If she does the patrolman's union needs to come out swinging.
my condolences to Officer Ambrose's family and the Springfield PD.
this world has truly gone insane.

EMOTIONS RUN OVER: Family members and police hug after the body of officer Kevin Ambrose, who was killed on Monday, was escorted to the Sampson Chapel of the Acres funeral home in Springfield.
Springfield police say no department policy was violated when a lone cop went to help a scared woman with her ex-boyfriend — on a routine call to stand by while belongings were exchanged — but law enforcement experts said the sudden explosion of violence that ensued and the officer’s killing reveal a gaping hole in the way police handle volatile domestic situations.
“My guess is they will change the procedures in place,” said Eugene O’Donnell, a former New York City cop and a professor of police studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, about the Monday afternoon shooting spree that has rocked Springfield. “They’re likely to take these from a more service-oriented call to a more police-oriented call. ... If they only send one officer now, they’ll probably start to send two.”

Ex Of Man Who Killed Springfield Police Officer: “He Is A Demon”
SPRINGFIELD (AP) — “He is a Demon,” Charlene Mitchell wrote in a court affidavit about the man who made her fear for her life.
Less than an hour after the court granted her a restraining order, Springfield police had another name for the father of Mitchell’s 1-year-old daughter: cop killer.
Authorities said Shawn Bryan, a 35-year-old New York City corrections officer, fatally shot the Springfield police officer who answered Mitchell’s call for help Monday afternoon.
Officer Kevin Ambrose met Mitchell and Bryan outside her apartment complex and briefly spoke to them before heading inside so Bryan could retrieve some belongings.
The 29-year-old woman told court officials in requesting the restraining order that Bryan had a gun, had gotten physical with her and had “always told me that he is crazy.”
Police said Bryan shoved Mitchell inside when they got to the apartment door Monday, leaving the 56-year-old Ambrose in the hallway.
Authorities said when the 36-year police force veteran tried to push his way inside, Bryan fired a gunshot at Ambrose through the door, then opened the door and shot him again.
The corrections officer then went back inside the apartment, shooting and critically wounding Mitchell before turning his gun on himself.
Amen brother, funerals are for the living, and as shitty as it is to bury one of our own, there really is NOTHING like a police funeral.
Can't wait to read the comments in the paper about how we tied up traffic, I need to get from here to there, blah blah blah. For those people, GFY, find a different route and BTW, is there an audible "pop" noise when you people pull your heads out of your asses?
Separate names with a comma.
