Springfield cop killed on duty to be honored

SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield police will honor a fallen officer in a ceremony that also will recognize law-enforcement officials who apprehended a prison escapee after a shootout.
Police say the family of late Springfield Officer Kevin Ambrose will accept a medal of honor in his name at Thursday evening's event at Springfield Central High School.
Ambrose died on duty in June while trying to help a woman whose boyfriend had threatened her.
