The minimum requirements for a Special Agent are as follows:

Five years of sworn investigative experience or completion of FDLE's Special Agent Trainee Program. College education from an accredited college or university can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of four years of the required experience. All applicants need to be certified in law enforcement in the State of Florida.

SALARY: $1,660.65 biweekly and $1,850.95 biweekly in Dade, Broward, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties. Incumbents are generally hired at the minimum salary for the class. Salary increases are granted based upon appropriations as approved by the Florida Legislature.

TRAINING: 8 week training with periodic in-service training.

RETIREMENT: Each member is vested after 6 years of service; however, full benefits are awarded after 25 continuous years of service and are based upon a rate of 3% per year. Further information on retirement is available from the State Division of Retirement.
