TAUNTON -
It turned out to be much more than a spat.
An Acushnet woman and a man and woman from Taunton were arrested Thursday morning after allegedly engaging in a three-hour spat that included a car chase and assault.
By 5:30 a.m. police had arrested Erin Mushroe, 19, 180 Staples St., for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a glass bottle, and Ryan Bradshaw, 18, 100 Paula Drive, for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a car, and for violating an abuse prevention order.
They also charged Caitlyn Fontes, 21, 11 Mendall Road, Acushnet, with domestic assault and battery and with misdemeanor breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
Police at 1:10 a.m. responded to a 911 call from a female who said another woman was throwing bottles at her car, which was parked at Wendy's on Bay Street.
A check of the area proved unsuccessful.
Shortly thereafter a second call to police reported a car chase on Bay Street, which was then followed by a third call of a disturbance in front of New Weir Pizza on the other side of the city.
At 2 a.m., police went to 180 Staples St. after getting a tip that some of the involved parties would be there.
They were met by Mushroe and Bradshaw who accused Fontes and a young man and woman in her car of following them to Wendy's, where they allege Fontes - who they said is Bradshaw's ex-girlfriend - issued verbal threats and threw a bottle that broke on the ground.
That led to a chase and a sudden stop at an intersection where they said Fontes slapped Bradshaw, who police said had a 209A abuse prevention order to stay away from her that was to set to expire Friday.
A check of computer files revealed that Fontes lived in Acushnet. Taunton police then contacted Acushnet police asking them to go to her house and take her into custody for domestic assault.
On the ride back to Taunton Fontes tearfully insisted that her ex-boyfriend had grabbed her by the throat and thrown her on her car, and that his new girlfriend had thrown a bottle at her.
At 4 a.m., police interviewed the male passenger in Fontes' car, who told them that the trouble started when a group of friends and acquaintances had gathered for an early-morning party inside Myles Standish Industrial Park.
That, he said, led to Mushroe chasing Fontes down city streets - among them Bay, Bassett, Fremont, Tremont, High and Weir streets.
The young man also told cops Bradshaw subsequently sucker punched him when he tried playing peacemaker, and that the reason Fontes drove to Wendy's was to get ice for his eye.

So many people abuse restraining orders also. Some use them as a CNTRL+ALT+DELETE for their relationships. Who are usually with losers anyway.
