Just checked the PD website and currently have only 4 patrol officers. I'm hoping they're hiring at least 2 to get 2 officers per shift. Plenty of public safety officers but when the proverbial shit hits the fan, trained, sworn ARMED police officers are a nice thing to have on hand...taking vacation, sick and injured, training, court appearances and the like into consideration.

On a side note, it's a bit disappointing that so many departments that HAD impressive websites are sliding backwards and going with barebones basic crap. Simmons had a nice one, WHAT HAPPENED? Budgetary issues? Damn shame.

They have a bunch of in-house public safety officers to supervise, plus all the contract guards to supervise so, it may seem top heavy if they were ONLY supervising cops.

This is my alma mater so I'm familiar with the system. Contract security is Securitas and they mainly just patrol residence campus after hours. Police Department seems really squared away I was always impressed with them. Best of luck to all applicants.

I would attribute that to the move towards social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
