Milwaukee police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on the city's north side.Police were responding to a call of child abuse at a home near 23rd Street and Keefe Avenue at 3:30 a.m. Monday when they found an injured 14-year-old.Officers tried to apprehend the suspect, but he got in a van and drove it toward them.
Milwaukee police said the officer had no avenue of escape and discharged his weapon, striking the 39-year-old suspect in the arm. His injuries are not life-threatening. The officer was not injured.The 32-year-old officer who fired his gun is a six-year veteran of the force. Police said the suspect has an extensive police record with drugs and weapons arrests.The Milwaukee County district attorney's office is on the scene to investigate.
