Term: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Reports to: Director of Public Safety

Description: The Public Safety Sergeant will supervise and oversee all aspects of an assigned shift and assist with the department administration. Specifically, the sergeant will assign shift and detail officers to patrol sectors and assignments, conduct shift meetings, train and evaluate officers, provide back-up in emergency situations and maintain departmental records.

Requirements: High School diploma and three years of related experience, preferably in a campus public safety environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must be able to work flexible hours and be willing to work mandated additional hours as necessary. Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge and an understanding of federal, state and local laws and college and departmental policies and procedures are essential. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain and retain Massachusetts Special State Police authority.

Salary: Sergeant Grade
