I was wondering what is necessary to become a self sponsor to a full time academy. do you have to take a physical before you can get a spot? I know preference goes to those who have jobs, but is it hard to get a seat? i have read posts where i have seen some people have sponcered themselfs, any input or information that you could give would be a great help. thanks all.

1) get a department to sponser you
2) get all the tests done
*Physcial
*Pyscological
3) take the PAT (Physical Agilaity test)
4) mail all results and application to the MPOC head quater
5)Wait
6) wait
7) get frustrated
8 ) Wait
9) get the acceptance letter
10) buy all your equipment
11)get the money =$2300 for the academy
12)get pissed off because you were bumped to the next academy
13) wait
14) wonder why you spent $3000 on testing, equipments and academy
15) start looking in NH for jobs
16) spend another $100+ on NH exams
17-20) wait

I'm not a 100% sure on it, I believe you can pick the ones you want to attend, but you could end up waiting longer for it. Your best bet is to either call the acdemy you want to attend or call MPOC themselves. Check their website for the contact info.

I am a self sponsor currently in the Lowell academy. Give them a call, they will tell you straight out if they have room to take you, and if they do, they will not bump you. The academy director is Sgt. Fleming. The training is top notch, and the academy lasts a full 24 weeks. Yes, 24 weeks since they provide extra training in firearms, community policing and terrorism. Oh, and be ready to run....last friday we ran 10 miles in the rain. Hoorah!

I am also interested in info as I am considering self sponsoring into an academy. In particular I was wondering if you have to have and FID or LTC permit? Also, in dealing with the medical exam, do you have to go to a certain doctor or will just any do?
