This is like a sub topic to Dispatch Safety.

I was wondering who has a real secure dispatch area. Very limited access with secured doors and windows and such

Out here I know of a few.

Amherst
Northamton, City of
State Police, Northampton and Shelburne Falls

I think that is it. There are others that are ok but still officers come and go and they handle the walk ins.

Out this way;
Brockton, E.Bridgewater, W.Bridgewater, Abington, Rockland are rock-solid and bullet proof, with secure access and excellent visibility. Bridgewater PD has new modern station but I haven't been in it yet.

At Hampshire College I have an open door that leads to another open door that leads to whatever wants to jump over this desk. Westfield State is buzz-entry, feel alot more secure there.

Newton Dispatch has a locked door with a key pad and some kind of "hand analyzer". Not sure what part of the hand it reads. Each officer/dispatcher has their own code. There are a few windows that I've been told have bullet - proof glass in them, which does not appear to be true.

We operate as the front desk and can buzz people into the back admin offices or officers and other authorized personnel have a four digit code that can be used on the key pad. From the back hall both doors to dispatch are secured and can only be opened by authorized personnel. (Dispatchers, Sergeants and Command Staff). All others need to be let in by the dispatcher. The front window leaves things to be desired.

Same as Drew, although on the FD no combo lock so we have control. Front window bullet resistant but the walls....heh...well, I hope they shoot the window ](*,) Only area the public has access to is the front lobby, after that visitors are escorted to wherever that may be

There are a minimum of 2 code lock doors anyone has to get through to get to us from the outside. We have no windows.

In our new building it's going to be swipe cards in combination with codes. We will have small narrow windows above head level and they will be blast proof.
